Orange Chicken

A Chinese takeout classic - Orange Chicken. Enjoy the delightful combination of sweet and tangy flavors that make this dish so irresistible. Picture crispy chicken pieces drenched in a delicious sauce that coats every bite, making it the perfect partner for a bowl of rice. Treat yourself to a comforting and timeless meal that hits all the right spots.

Ingredients:

Chicken:

•8 Boneless Skinless Chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces

•Salt and pepper to taste

•Neutral Oil, for frying


Orange Chicken Sauce:

•1 cup freshly squeezed Orange Juice

•1/2 cup Sugar

•2 TB Rice Vinegar

•2 TB Soy Sauce

•1 tsp fresh Ginger Root Juice

•4 cloves Garlic, minced

•1 TB Chili Crunch (optional)

•Zest from 1 Orange

•2 TB Cornstarch


Garnish:

•Green Onions

•Sesame Seeds


Instructions:

Chicken:

1. Cut chicken thighs into bite size pieces and place in a mixing bowl.

2. Heat neutral oil in a pan over medium heat, enough to cover the bottom.

3. Add the chicken pieces to the hot oil. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 160°F and has some color to it .


Orange Chicken Sauce:

1. In a medium pot, combine freshly squeezed orange juice, sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, fresh ginger root juice, minced garlic, chili crunch (if using), and orange zest.

2. Combine cornstarch with 3 tsp water, stir, and add to sauce.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then immediately reduce to a simmer until thickened to desired consistency.


Bringing it All Together:

1. Add the cooked chicken to the thickened orange sauce in the pot.

2. Toss the chicken in the sauce until each piece is evenly coated.

3. Remove from heat and serve the crispy orange chicken over rice or noodles.

4. Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top of the orange chicken.
