Homemade Hot Chocolate

It's that time of year again! Usually, it's accompanied by store-bought hot chocolate mix that's been sitting in the back of your pantry for God knows how long. This hot chocolate recipe is the real stuff, the good stuff... It's so easy to do, you'll never go back to that Swiss Miss trash again after trying this!

Ingredients

•4 cups whole milk

•180g Milk, chopped (Tony's Chocolonely is my favorite)

•¼ cup granulated sugar

•½ tsp vanilla extract

•Amaretto liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until warm, but not simmering.

  2. Whisk in the sugar and cook for about 30 seconds, until dissolved. Add the chopped chocolate and whisk until completely melted and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. If the adults in the room desire it, add a splash of amaretto liqueur to each mug before serving.

  4. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, crushed candy canes, a cinnamon stick, or your favorite hot chocolate toppings.
